Overview
Yutenji is a quiet, residential area that is perfect for those who want to live a quiet life at home, but still have easy access to some of the busiest and most popular areas in the city via the Toyoku line.
It has many good supermarkets for convenient and affordable shopping, and life is relaxed. You will see many families and people with dogs in this area.
From Yutenji, you can easily walk to the famous Nakameguro in around 10 minutes, or Gakugei Daigaku to the south, which both have a lot of great restaurants. Other fashionable areas such as Ebisu, Daikanyama and Jiyugaoka are also easily accessible via the train lines.

Yutenji’s best kept secret is a Kakigori dessert shop called Italian Kakigori Ricotta. It is small and not on the main streets so it can be a little hard to find, but the dishes are large in size with many delicious toppings and can be very refreshing in the hot summer months.
Pedibus Jambus and Sankyu Hanten are very popular restaurants with the locals, but there is a good reason for it because the food at both places is great. You will see people queuing outside, so be prepared!
If Yutenji doesn’t have what you are looking for, then the nearby areas will definitely have something great to offer. For example, Organic Restaurant and Deli in Gakugei Daigaku, which has delicious food which is also healthy and vegan.
What I don’t like this area
Yutenji is not so lively, so if you want to go home every day to somewhere with crowds, action and excitement, then Yutenji may not be the place for you. There are no big shopping malls around the station. It also doesn’t have much greenery and it’s not so close to any big parks or rivers, so it’s not great for those who like walking in the outdoors.

Yutenji is overall a great area and can be very convenient for those who work close by.
